What would you like to know?

I'm always here to help

What is a humanist funeral celebrant?
A humanist funeral celebrant is someone who leads non-religious funeral ceremonies. We focus on the life of the person who has died, reflecting their values, beliefs, and individuality without religious elements.

What types of funerals do you offer?

I offer personalised funeral ceremonies, memorials, scattering of ashes, pre-planned ceremonies and celebration of life services. Each service is tailored to honour the unique life and legacy of the person who has died.

How do you create a personalised funeral ceremony?

I work closely with the people important to the person who has died to understand their life, values, and wishes. Together, we create a meaningful ceremony that reflects their personality, achievements, and the impact they had on others.

Are religious elements included in the ceremony?

No, as a humanist celebrant, I focus on non-religious ceremonies. However, I can include secular readings, poems, or music that were significant to the person who had died or to their family or friends.

How long does a funeral ceremony usually last?

The length of a funeral service varies depending on the family's wishes and the content of the ceremony. Typically, services last between 20-40 minutes if they are held in a crematorium, but can be longer if held elsewhere.

Can people important to the person who has died speak during the service?

Yes, I encourage family members and friends to share their memories and thoughts during the service if they feel able. This adds a personal touch and helps to celebrate the life of the person who has died.

What is the process for arranging a funeral ceremony?

After you contact me, we'll arrange an initial meeting to discuss your needs and the wishes of the person who has died. From there, I'll work with you to plan the ceremony and ensure everything is prepared for the day.

When should we contact you?

It's best to contact me as soon as possible after a death, so we can start planning the ceremony. I understand that this is a difficult time, and I’ll guide you through the process with care and sensitivity.

Sometimes people want to speak with me before the person has died, for instance if they have a terminal illness. This way they can be included in the planning of their funeral. It's always an honour to meet a person who I will lead the ceremony for.

Can the ceremony be held in any location?

Yes, I can conduct the ceremony in various locations, such as a funeral home, woodland burial site or crematorium, or a place that was special to the person who has died, for instance on a beach or a favourite garden. The choice of location is up to you and what feels most fitting.

What are your fees? What do they include?

My fees vary depending on the location and specific requirements of the ceremony. The fee includes an initial meeting, ceremony planning, script writing, and leading the ceremony ... plus a smart copy of the ceremony script. For a precise quote, please get in touch.

Data Protection and Privacy Policy

As a celebrant, I receive personal information from you e.g. names, phone numbers and email addresses for the purpose of writing your ceremony script. Inevitably, a ceremony that best reflects your wishes and celebrates a life is, by its nature, personal. All information received by me is stored securely and is only used for the specific purpose of producing a personalised ceremony. It will not be passed on to or sold to any third parties.
Live ceremony scripts might be shared with a colleague in the event that I am unable to undertake a ceremony owing to illness or accident.
The personal information that you provide for the purpose of building a ceremony will be retained by me in case you require my services again and where such continuity is desirable. If you wish to have all your information erased immediately following a ceremony, or at any time thereafter, please get in touch by phone or email to confirm this and I will act accordingly
